Turn your foes into allies in this Dungeon Crawler Action RPG with Rogue-like elements

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Gamescom 2020 Indie Arena Booth, public demo (and more) + Collaboration with Dwerve
over 3 years ago – Tue, Aug 25, 2020 at 03:54:06 PM

Hi everyone! We hope you are having a nice summer!

As we said in our last update, we are working (a lot) to have the closed beta ready for September. We will try to have it as soon as possible, but rest assured it will be on that month.

If you chose to participate as a beta tester, please check your mail for the Non-Disclosure Agreement, and send it back to us signed (and the extra info we need). You have time until beta officially starts!

 Gamescom 2020 Indie Arena Booth

As we also said in our last update, Sword of the Necromancer has been selected for the Gamescom 2020 Indie Arena Booth(August 27-30). The header image for this update is our virtual booth, where visitors will be able to learn about the game.

Also, we will make the Sword of the Necromancer Demo (which was until now exclusive for the Beta Tester and up tiers) public for everyone during the event days (August 27-30) and host a streaming on our Steam page with the gameplays some backers have sent to us.

This is your chance to try Sword of the Necromancer if you didn't have access to the demo yet! Please download and try it! Also, if you still haven't, please add Sword of the Necromancer to your Steam wishlist!

Both downloading the demo and adding the game to your wishlist would help us a lot to gain visibility in the Steam store (which, if case you don't know, is harder every day, so that'd be much appreciated!).

We will soon write another update with the links for all the events!

Sword of the Necromancer on GOG

Sword of the Necromancer will be available in the GOG.com store too! As with all GOG releases, this version will be DRM-Free. Keep in mind that backers who chose PC platform will receive the Steam key only as we originally stated.

Japanese Voice Acting

The Japanese translation is already finished, and to help us with the game's release in Japan we have decided to include Japanese Voice Acting, alongside the English one. The English voice acting is already finished and we are currently implementing it in the game. As it ended being less expensive than expected, we have decided to add this new language.

We will set a casting call very soon, if you are a Japanese Voice Actor or know someone who is, keep tuned!

Collaboration with Dwerve

Dwerve, by Half Human Games, is a Tower Defense Dungeon Crawler RPG with Roguelike elements who has started its Kickstarter campaign just today!

Dwerve combines action with strategy, in a game where you have to think very carefully where to place your traps and turrets to survive.

It will feature a lot of content, secrets and (not very common in this kind of game) an interesting story about the fight between the dwarfs and the trolls.

Help them reach their goal and make the game a reality (and also its console versions!). You can also help them by wishlisting the game on Steam.

As with all our collaborations, an element of Dwerve will appear in Sword of the Necromancer (and an element of Sword of the Necromancer will appear in Dwerve too!), in this case, an enemy.

Meet the Skullcrusher!

The ogre Skullcrusher will appear in the Necromancer's dungeon as a fast and strong enemy. Be wary of its pillar! They aren't named Skullcrusher just because!

You will also be able to summon the Skullcrusher by using its IR Code!

Kind regards!

Project update (August)
over 3 years ago – Sun, Aug 02, 2020 at 01:18:56 AM

Hi everyone! This will be a quick update to inform you about the project's current state.

We keep working at full throttle (which is being a real challenge with the warm weather we are having right now) to have the beta ready soon. We are all healthy and safe (and wearing our face masks when we go outside)

Non-Disclosure Agreements for Beta Testers

For the backers who agreed to participate in the closed beta (by answering the Backer Survey we sent back in June), we have sent the NDAs you have to sign if you want to get access to the beta in September. Please answer the mail as soon as possible.

If you didn't receive the mail, it probably is because you didn't answer the Backer Survey (which is closed by now). If you did, check your spam folder.

Voice Acting

This month of July we had a casting to select the English voices of Sword of the Necromancer's characters. We received over 1000 auditions, and there were lots of talented voices!

The selected cast is:

We have recorded almost all the lines and we are excited to let you hear them!

Indie Arena Booth

Finally, Sword of the Necromancer has been selected for the Gamescom 2020 Indie Arena Booth (August 27-30), that this year will be online for obvious reasons. We will have a virtual booth you all can visit, and participate in several digital events.

Can you spot Grimorio of Games' logo?

We keep working for the game to be ready and the best it can be!

Kind regards!

Project roadmap + Collaboration with Steamdolls
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 30, 2020 at 12:36:01 AM

Hi everyone!

We are entering the final phases of the project and we wanted to let you know what we are going to do in the following months.

As you know, our intention is to release the game on November 2020. This will be the base game, which will include the Story and a post-game mode with randomized enemies and bosses. This initial release will be digital only. Remember that every backer pledge comes with at least a digital copy of the game, so everyone will be able to play the game on release date (even if they chose a Physical Edition)

After the release (in fact, a little before that), we will start working on the post-launch update. This post-launch update will be released alongside the Physical Edition, around June 2021, so the Physical Edition (for PS4 and Switch) would come with the update inside. We finally decided to do that so you have all the game in the same package without having to download a patch for the update separately. That way, your physical copy will feature the whole game forever, even if PS Store or the eShop is no longer available in the future.

Development Roadmap

So this is currently the roadmap until the game's release:

  • July and August: We finish development of the beta version. Beta version would be playable from start to finish, including the post-game mode, and include all the scenes. Maybe there is still some placeholder content that will be replaced during the beta-testing phase.
  • September: Beta-testing begins. During this time, we will also finish the ports to consoles (the game is already playable on consoles, but it might need some performance fixes and platform-specific features). We will finish what was left and fix bugs and balancing issues as the beta-testers find them.
  • October: We finish fixing bugs and send the game to console certification. If the certification process finds any problem, we may have to fix them and send to certification again, so we reserve the whole month and part of the next one for that.
  • November: Base game is released and we begin working on the post-launch game modes and extra content.

Starting on July 20th, we will contact with the backers that want to participate in the Closed Beta and send them the NDAs. This will be available to all backers with a "Beta Access" or above pledge who chose to participate in the Beta in the last form we sent. To participate in the Closed Beta you will have to comply not to share anything from the beta outside our private channels (to report bugs).

Remember to fill your Backerkit info if you haven't yet

Collaboration with Steamdolls

RememberSteamdolls - Order of Chaos? Steamdolls is a steampunk Metroidvania with stealth elements and a dark and gritty atmosphere that is in its last days of the campaign. Please check their campaign and support them if you like what you see!

Stealth AND Metroidvania? Killer Combo!

Sword of the Necromancer will have a little cameo in Steamdolls (which may even be plot relevant!). All voiced by David Hayter (voice of Solid Snake) and Christopher Randolph (voice of Otacon), a great honor to have such legends mention our game, even in a fictional setting!

What was its name again?

And of course, we will feature something from Steamdolls in our game, non other than the protagonist's helmet! Whisper's Helmet will be a Relic-type item, that will grant several perks in a passive manner.

As Whisper is a stealthy assassin, his helmet will render you vulnerable to Light, but in exchange you will be able to use dirty tricks to blind your enemies, have an increased chance of a critical hit and move freely and swiftly as the Steamdolls' character!

As with the other collaborations, the Whisper's Helmet will be obtainable using an IR Code!

Kind regards!

Demo/Public beta keys sent + backer survey
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 04, 2020 at 11:47:35 PM

Hi everyone!

We have just sent the free JanduSoft games to all backers that completed the Backerkit survey we sent a few days ago. If you are a Kickstarter backer and haven't received the link to Backerkit yet, check your spam or trashfolder and search for a mail from Backerkit in the name of JanduSoft.

If you haven't filled the survey yet, you have until July 1st. Then, we will lock the surveys and you won't be able to answer and choose your rewards. So it's very important!

Remember that if you chose a Digital Edition pledge tier, you will receive 2 games (Super Hyperactive Ninja, and one to choose from Neonwall and Caveman Warriors). If you chose a Physical tier you will get all 3. These games are for Steam only.

Sword of the Necromancer Demo/Public Beta

In addition to those free games, backers who pledged for Beta Access tier and above will also receive a key for Sword of the Necromancer's demo. This demo will act as a public beta, meaning that you can stream its contents freely and share screenshots and whatever you want.

This demo/public beta contains the tutorial and the first floor and boss of the game. If you defeat the first boss you will unlock the Flask of Homunculus, meaning that you can play with another player in local co-op if you have 2 controllers.

Closed Beta

Backers who pledged for Beta Access tier and above are also elegible to participate in the closed beta, which will contain all the game from beginning to end (and will be ready when most on the game is done, so there's still some months of work for that).

To participate in the Closed Beta you will be required to sign a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) in the future. This Closed Beta will not be able to be streamed nor its screenshots shared, as it contains spoilers for the game's story and content.

You can choose to participate in this Closed Beta using the survey you should have received in your email.

Backer Survey

Backers that didn't have any problem with the processing of their payments should receive shortly (or have already received) a mail from JanduSoft that contains a link to a survey. If you completed your pledge through Backerkit because your credit card wasn't accepted by Kickstarter, get in contact with us and we will send you the survey.

Please fill your survey before July 1st.

This survey asks several things depending on your pledge.

  • NAME IN CREDITS

Enter the name you want to be identified with in the game's credits, no longer than 40 characters, and no special characters (for example, []!"·$#~%&/), quotes (simple or double) are fine. If you are a couple or a group and you want to appear together, there is no problem with that as long as it meets the previous requirements.

  • DISCORD ROLE

You can join our game's Discord Server to chat with the devs and with the other backers. If you want, you can obtain a special Backer role, with access to a private backer channel. Just join the server, and put your Discord username in the survey.

  • CLOSED BETA

You can choose to participate in the Closed Beta or not. Keep in mind that you will have to sign a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) and by doing so you agree to not share any beta content and help us finding problems in the game.

  • LOST DIARY ENTRY

If your pledge included the possibility of writing a Lost Diary Entry (to appear in the game as someone's lost journal), you can choose to apply or not. If you do, we will get in contact with you to work on it.

  • MONSTER/BOSS DESIGN

For the backers who pledged for the Boss Edition or Monster Edition, you can choose if you want to help us design a boss or monsters. As with the Lost Diary, we will get in contact with you in affirmative case.

Remember to fill your survey before July 1st so we can start working on it as soon as possible!

New Collaboration: Steamdolls x Sword of the Necromancer

Steamdolls - Order of Chaos is a steampunk Metroidvania with stealth elements and a dark and gritty atmosphere. The main character is even voiced by David Hayter! (yes, THE David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake).

Steamdolls is currently on Kickstarter, so go check it and support it!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/steamdolls/steamdolls-order-of-chaos

An element from Steamdolls will appear in Sword of the Necromancer, but we are keeping it as a secret to everybody by now.

Keep tuned!
