Latest Updates from Our Project:

Last 48 hours! The end is near + Collaboration Announcement
almost 4 years ago – Thu, May 07, 2020 at 02:22:36 AM

We're very close to the end of the campaign, and we have made it very far thanks to our backers' support!

Right now, we are placed 5th in the top of most funded videogame projects from Spain (in Kickstarter), this is awesome! Thank you very much!

There's still 2 days ahead, soon we will see which language has been choosen by the backers, and what is the content of the Mixed Pack 2. Remember that you can still vote on the surveys if you haven't yet!

We will also make a new survey so you can choose the winners of the Monster Design Contest. As we have already more than 40 entries, we will choose more than one winner.

These last days have been crazy, and there's a lot of work to do and decisions to make. And we want our backers to be a part of that!

Check out this project!

Today we want to talk you about Black Book by Morteshka, a RPG with card-based battles that is inspired by Slavic Mythology.

With an amazing crafter atmosphere, this project is looking really good, check it out!

A new collaboration

Like we did previously with9 Years of Shadows and Chroma:Bloom and Blight, we are doing a collaboration/cameo with Morteshka's game!

Today we announce that the cursed Black Book that gives its title to the game will appear in Sword of the Necromancer as a weapon!

The Black Book will have a negative effect on its wielder (lowering damage and Soul), but also cast a curse on the enemies that get hit by its magic! If an enemy gets hit by the Black Book attack, it will become weak to the Dark Element. FOREVER. If you revive a defeated enemy which has been afflicted by this curse you'll see that it still is weak to darkness.

You will be able to get the Black Book by scanning or entering its IR Code, be it digital or included in the IR Card that we will gift to every backer with a physical reward.

This card, along with Mixed Pack 2, Europa's Halberd, Tai'ak and Trolks IR Cards, are exclusive to Kickstarter Backers that choose a physical reward (Physical Edition and tiers above) and will be sent with your package for free.

If you're a backer of a digital edition and want to upgrade to the physical one, you still have time until the end of the campaign!

Thank you very much!

Monster Design Contest second batch of entries
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 04, 2020 at 01:54:51 PM

Last days to submit your entries!

On April 9th we started our Monster Design Contest, where the winner can win a Collector's Edition and appear in the credits as "Guest Monster Designer" and make their monster appear in the game. You can submit designs until the end of the campaign (May 8th), time is running out!

We have received 24 designs already, these are the new ones! You can see the first ones here

You can check the original Twitter posts in this thread.

After the campaign ends, backers will receive a survey to choose their 3 favourite monsters. Once they have chosen, we will contact the winner and start working on creating the monster!

Join in and submit your design!

Final Stretch Goal reached!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 04, 2020 at 02:20:21 AM

Once again, we have to thank all of our backers for your support

We have reached the last stretch goal: Animated opening + Boss Rush mode + Summonable Mini-versions of Bosses. And there's still almost 6 days for the campaign's end, next Friday!

This is being a wild ride, and it hasn't even ended yet!

As that was the last stretch goal we will not add more goals to the campaign, and instead use the "excess" funding to improve what we already have to do. For example, the Music stretch goal talked about adding live instruments to a select few songs: with more funding we could add those live instruments to more songs.

About stretch goals, some of you voiced your concerns about how they may delay the game's development and initial launch date. Rest assured that this won't be the case. The stretch goals that would make the game delay (as they require that the whole team work on them) are planned to be released in a free update after the game's launch. Those are the new extra modes (Colosseum, Boss Rush, Dungeon Builder) and the extra bosses (+ the ones that the Boss Edition backers would design).

The other stretch goals (Special Theme Song, Voice Acting, Additional Languages, Music Remaster and Animated Opening) are things that will be done externally while the rest of the team works on finishing the game, so they shouldn't delay the development and will be available with the game's launch. One of the stretch goals (Additional Pixel Artist) in fact will help us to do the work faster!

Our plan is to release at least the digital game by November. Even those of you who have chosen a pledge with a physical copy of the game will receive the digital copy. This was to ensure that everyone could play on the release date, regardless of their reward type (also in case you want to keep your physical copy sealed).

There might be delays as in every project, and the current situation the world is living right now is an example of unexpected things that can happen and affect a project. However, we are working at the same rate as always even with the COVID-19 threat, that's why we haven't changed our plan.

If there would be any delay, rest assured that you will be informed and it would be completely justified. And we can guarantee that it wouldn't be for our stretch goals!

We are not done yet!

In the following days, before the campaign ends, we will share with you more things about the game, like the second batch of entries for the Monster Design Contest and a new collaboration!

Keep tuned!

All of this wouldn't have been possible without your support!

Last stretch goal announced!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 04, 2020 at 02:20:04 AM

Thank you again for your awesome support!

First of all, sorry for the delay in this update. This is a big one and we had to take into account many things.

Now we have reached the 85,000€ goal, we can add the Dungeon Builder mode, enhance some of the music tracks with live instruments played by professionals and remaster the whole soundtrack!

Some of you voiced your concerns about the Dungeon Builder mode, which is a thing we really appreciate. Rest assured that this mode will not take anything from the rest of the game and, as every stretch goal in our project, it's an extra we wouldn't make if it weren't for your support. This mode will be an easy and accessible way of creating and sharing dungeons, and once it's available we (the dev team) will share some dungeon designs with you as challenges.

About the music enhancements, here you have a quick test made (and played) by our composer Inés Mirás yesterday to see how much a simple pandeiro (Galician tambourine) can add to the musical nuances of the themes.

For the live instruments we won't have only a tambourine of course! We will count with the aid of professional percussionists that will play a variety of instuments. As they are very specific folk instruments, this kind of percussion is difficult or impossible to find in sample form (which is what Inés has been using to make the music), or sounds very off and not like it should.

So now that we are at this point, we have to announce it...

The Final Stretch Goal!

We really didn't expect to reach this one, but your support has made it! If we reach the next (and final stretch goal) we will add several things:

In the Boss Rush mode you will fight against 5 bosses consecutively. Now that we will have some extra bosses (plus the ones the "Boss Edition" backers will help to design), it makes sense adding this mode!

Grab your best equipment and see if you are able to fight against 5 enhanced bosses (from both the Story mode and the Extra modes) without healing and resting in between!

If you beat them all you will receive...

This is something many of you have requested, even since we were showcasing the game at local events. In Sword of the Necromancer you can revive and summon any monster that leaves a corpse behind when dying, but... Bosses just disappear!

There is an obvious reason we don't let the player use the bosses as a summon: game balance. Bosses are too big and powerful to let the player use them, as they would break the game (or end stuck in tiny places!).

But fear not! We have found a solution!

If we reach this goal, we will make "miniature-sized" versions of the Story Mode bosses (except the Necromancer, obviously) that will act like normal summons and perform some of the bosses' attacks. Even if they are mini versions of the bosses, they will be the biggest summonable monsters!

You will get one of these summonable versions of the bosses if you clear the Boss Rush mode!

And last but not least...

It's no secret that our game's artstyle is heavily inspired by Japanese anime and games, and what would an anime do without it's opening? In addition to an opening movie to set the mood of the game, this animation would help us a lot with the game's promotion.

To make this "anime" opening, we would have Sunshine Animation Studio, the people behind Temtem's "Saturday morning cartoon" style opening.

See their other works El Despertar de Nagah and I'm not Alone.

These 3 things will be a reality if we reach the last stretch goal: 120,000€!

We know it's quite a big jump, but that's what "stretches" are for!

As always, thanks. Without you this would not be possible

Additional Languages goal SMASHED! New Stretch goal!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Apr 27, 2020 at 07:44:56 AM

We have reached our last stretch goal earlier than we thought!

Sword of the Necromancer will be playable in English, Spanish, Catalan, Galician and now, thanks to your support, in Japanese, French, German and another language that can still be chosen by the backers (go answer the survey if you still haven't!).

Does that mean that we are out of stretch goals? Nope! But we can't make the Sword of the Necromancer any longer in our stretch goal graphic!

We are seriously astounded by your support and never though we would reach all the stretch goals in our image, so when we made it we chose to show only the first 6 ones.

As you can read above, our current stretch goal is having 2 more bosses for the post-game modes. When we say "post-game" we refer to when you play after completing the story. We had already planned to add up to 4 bosses after the game's launch, and also those designed by the backers who pledge for "Boss Edition" (like one of you did, thank you!).

These 2 new bosses will be designed with Colosseum Mode in mind, so they may require extra work than usual. That would make 6 extra bosses (plus the ones from the "Boss Edition" pledges) to be added after the game's launch in free updates.

Additionally, we have decided to create a new IR Card Pack and gift it to all backers with physical rewards. This IR Card Pack, Mixed Pack 2, will be exclusive for Kickstarter backers and will not be sold separetely (as we will do with the other packs).

As with the Mixed Pack that we already had, this one will feature a variety of useful items, weapons and monsters to be scanned and used in your game.

And speaking about cards...

Time to talk about a cool project!

Please take a look to Clarity Games' completely (and truly) free-to-play trading card game Chroma: Bloom and Blight. With a focus on storytelling, a carefully crafted lore and world, and a competitive battle system, Chroma will be an accessible card game for everyone

Take a look at it, play the demo and if you like it, please support the project!

But as always, that's not all!

We fell in love with Chroma's world and its creatures, so we announce a new collaboration like the one we did with 9 Years of Shadows. One of their creatures will appear in Sword of the Necromancer: meet the Tai'ak!

You will be able to face these creatures from the world of Arholt as enemies, but also summon them as allies after you defeat them!

You will meet these plant-like monsters from a far away land in the Necromancer's dungeon!

As with Europa's Halberd, every backer with a physical reward will receive the Tai'ak IR Card for free! We are still designing it, so we can't show it yet, but we will do as soon as possible!

Thank you for your support, we have lots of surprises for you!
