"Extra Bosses" goal reached! Enter the "Dungeon Builder" stretch goal!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Apr 27, 2020 at 12:07:23 AM

Seventh stretch goal reached!

Thanks to our backers support, 2 more bosses will be added to the game after launch in free updates!

Also, everyone with a physical reward will receive the "Mixed Pack 2" IR Card pack, a Kickstarter exclusive pack!

We have not decided the contents of the card yet, for a simple reason... you decide it! You can choose the contents of the pack by answering this little survey. As every pack, it will have 8 cards, which will be selected proportionally from the most voted categories. The cards in this pack will not be in other packs, so worry not about repeated ones!

 Onto the new Stretch Goal!

In the game's lore, the Necromancer built the ever-changing dungeon to protect itself against people who came after the power of its creation, the Sword of the Necromancer.

Now that you have the Sword, you will share a little of the Necromancer's power to modify the dungeon's layout!

In the Dungeon Builder extra mode you will be able to create a dungeon floor from scratch, selecting the rooms, the enemies and even the chests placement and the type of reward inside them. You will also choose which boss to face at the end of the Dungeon floor.

Enemies and Bosses in this mode can also receive a little boost to their stats to make them more challenging if you wish.

But it would be a bore if you could only play the levels you create, wouldn't it? That's why you will be able to share your creations! After you create a level, you will generate a code. Enter this code to play your level, or share it with anyone so they can play your level! And no Internet required!

Any item or summon obtained when you play the levels created with the Dungeon Builder mode (made by you or another player) will not be saved when leaving the dungeon, and you will be restored to your previous equipment from when you entered the mode. However, if you clear a level made with the Dungeon Builder, you will obtain a guaranteed good weapon or equipment, in a similar fashion to when you clear Colosseum Mode.

This will be an extra mode available after you complete the game's story, and after Colosseum Mode is available.

You know Inés, our composer. She is working hard to give the soundtrack an epic feeling with celtic touches. But there's a limit one can make with music samples, even for a talented composer as her: some instruments she wants to use to achieve that special celtic feeling are folk instruments with inexistent or not good enough samples to use. Examples of those are the pandeiro cuadrado (used in Galician folk music) and other percussion instruments that add to the beat of the theme.

To have those instruments in the soundtrack, we would need to use live instruments and record them in a professional studio. We would also benefit from using a professional audio studio to remaster the tracks currently in the game and adjust lows, highs and all that so everyone can enjoy the music regardless of where they hear it: be it your home console, Nintendo Switch, or the music CD you get with the Collector's Edition.

The "Dungeon Builder" extra mode (available after launch in a free update) and the remastered music will be a reality if we hit the 85,000€ goal!

And speaking of music...

We have talked about 9 Years of Shadows, by Halberd Studios in one of our previous updates, and we even feature the main character's weapon in the game, Europa's Halberd! (Remember that every backer with physical rewards will receive its IR Card!).

In their game, music has a very special role, and they even got Norihiko Hibino (known for his work in the Metal Gear Series) working on the soundtrack alongside Michiru Yamane and Manami Matsumae!

9 Years of Shadows is in its last days of the campaign, go check it out if you haven't yet!

Voice Acting goal reached!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 24, 2020 at 10:57:19 PM

Thank you again for your support!

We have reached the 40,000€ goal, meaning that we can now have English VA in the game! We will begin searching for voice actresses for our protagonists Tama and Koko after the campaign ends. There will be other minor roles, so keep tuned for the casting announcement if you are a VA!

As we have reached the stretch goal, that also means that everyone will receive Jandusoft games!

All games are PC-Steam only

All backers will receive Super Hyperactive Ninja, Grimorio of Games' first game!  Backers with Digital Rewards will be able to choose another Jandusoft game, between Caveman Warriors or Neonwall (you will receive a questionaire after campaign ends). Backers with Physical Rewards will receive both games in addition to Super Hyperactive Ninja!

These games have nothing to do with Sword of the Necromancer's style nor gender, but they are fun additions to your Steam library nonetheless!

And now we've reached our latest goal...

The new stretch goal

Sword of the Necromancer will be available in English, Spanish, Catalan and Galician. We want as many people as possible to play comfortably and, if possible, in their native language.

But translating a game and localizing it well is not easy. So we need further support to translate the game into several languages: Japanese, French, German and... a fourth one of your choosing!

Shortly after this update, backers will receive a survey to choose the fourth language. We have based the languages to choose from Steam's most used languages. These are:

  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Polish
  • Russian

The new 4 languages will be only for text translation (not Voice Acting!), and we will be able to translate the game into them if we reach 50,000€

As always, thank you very much for helping to make this game bigger, better and more accessible!

More than 1000 backers!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 24, 2020 at 03:50:54 PM

More than 1000 of you are believing in the project and supporting Sword of the Necromancer and we couldn't be more excited!

Thanks to you, we are closer and closer every day to bring new features and improving the experience. As we write these words, we are less than 2,000€ away from having English Voice Acting in the game, which will help to convey the characters' emotions even better.

Thank you very much, you are awesome!

We are working a lot these days, partially "thanks" to the confinement but mostly due to the extra motivation your support is bringing to the team, but sadly most of it is spoiler so we can't show it (yet, you will see it in the game, we are sure you'll love it!).

What we can show is a feature that Víctor has been working on since last Friday: the Library!

If you've seen gameplays of Sword of the Necromancer, you might have noticed that in the Altar area (where Koko's corpse lies) there are several things that seem to be able to interact with: a big chest, a table with a book over it, a library... That's because they will be able to interact with!

The Library is one of those things, it will feature several sections with info you can look up: monters, weapons, the lost diaries, achievements...

In this video, we show the Bestiary. The Bestiary will contain info about the monsters that will be unlocked when you interact with the monsters in certain ways. For example: encountering a monster will unlock its entry, but there will be much info aside from the monster's name and illustration. To know the monsters better you have to fight against them, fight alongside them and train them. This way, you will receive snippets of info (like a certain "dex" from a famous game series).

Without further ado, here's the video:

As you can see, we worked to make the presentation a little more visually appealing than just a info dump, with the book animations and interaction.

You can also see that the Library is the place where you will be able to read the Lost Diaries. Those of you who have pledged for Ultra Collector's Edition or above will be able to write a short story about someone who tried to enter the dungeon (to get the Sword of the Necromancer for themselves, to find treasure, whatever you want!) and be part of the game's lore. After the campaign ends, those with the "Lost Diary" reward will receive a questionary to submit your story. You can start thinking and writing it already, we can't wait to read your stories!

Colosseum Mode stretch goal reached! (again)
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 21, 2020 at 04:16:20 PM

Thanks to all our wonderful backers we have reached 30,000€ again, meaning that the Colosseum Mode stretch goal has been met. We have reached 200% funding in less than a week! Thank you very much!

Let us explain again the Colosseum Mode in detail:

  • You will start at level 1 without any equipment except the Sword of the Necromancer.
  • You will be at a closed arena made of a single room with various traps. There will be no dungeon exploration in this mode.
  •  Several rounds of enemies (waves) will appear one after the other. During the waves, chests may appear at any location of the arena for a brief moment. You have to reach them before their time runs out.
  •  Monsters will be harder than usual when fighting against them, they will return to their "normal" selves when you use them as summons.
  • After the rounds of normal monsters, a boss will appear. You will have to use the equipment you have obtained during the previous phase to defeat it.
  • When you defeat the boss you will return to the altar without any of the equipment you got inside the Colosseum, and will be gifted an item with guaranteed good abilities based on your perfomance. You can use that item in the other game modes.
  •  Colosseum mode can be played in co-op mode, which will scale the enemies and bosses to be even harder.

We will begin working on Colosseum mode when the Story and Post-game modes are finished. Most probably, it will be available in a free update (remember, we won't do paid DLC!) after the game's launch, but if we can finish it before launch, it will be included in the initial release.

Free IR Cards to everyone with a physical reward!

Sample image, doesn't represent any of the packs specifically

As promised, everyone with a physical reward will get a free pack of IR Cards with their shipping. As IR Cards will not weight much, they will suppose no extra shipping cost and we can include them in your package.

You will be able to choose the IR Card pack you want in a questionaire we will send after the campaign ends successfully.

At the moment, we have 5 packs of 8 cards to choose from:

  •  Monster Pack: Monsters with unusual abilities
  •  Weapons Pack: Weapons with useful effects
  •  Items Pack: Healing and buffing items
  •  Mixed Pack: A bit of everything
  •  Easy Mode Pack: Items, weapons and monsters that will help you a lot

You will be able to see a sample of the cards and their effects in every pack to help you choose (they are not random). Each pack is specialized in something so it's easier for you to decide what do you want to use them for. For example, the Easy Mode Pack will contain cards to make the game much easier (auto-healing relics, powerful summons, etc.)

Want a challenge? Pick the "Mixed Pack" and use the Amulet of Iniquity in your game to start with Heart -1, Soul -1, Exp x0 and Critical -25%. Will you be able to beat the game without unequipping this cursed relic?

In addition, as part of the collaboration with the game 9 Years of Shadows by Halberd Studios you will also receive an IR Card of Europa's Halberd with your physical reward! This one will be a Kickstarter-exclusive card.

You can customize your game with the IR Codes and begin playing just the way you want!

Onto the new Stretch Goal, Voice Acting!

Now that we have reached 30,000€ we enter into the new stretch goal: English Voice Acting.

If we reach 40,000€ we will have Sandra Molina Juan (SandraMJ) on board directing the English voice acting and casting for Tama and Koko. They have a lot of experience with Visual Novels with their game The Hayseed Knight, which is fully voice acted (and you can play for free!) and others like Nekodeito, Our Lost World - Beneath the Skies and Caladria Chronicles among others.

Help us reach this goal and give voice to Tama and Koko!

To boot, remember that if we reach this goal every backer (regardless of if they chose physical or digital rewards) will receive a bundle of Jandusoft games for Steam!

And one more thing!

This is the second time we "reach" the Colosseum Mode goal and anounce the Voice Acting goal. The first time we achieved the goal "thanks" to a troll pledge which was withdrawn instants after our annoucement

Such a thing was something we knew could happen, as we have seen it on other projects. We were lucky to have already reached the main goal and even the first stretch goal, so it didn't affect much more than having to announce a new stretch goal before it was time for it.

But these kind of Kickstarter Trolls can be a real problem to other projects that barely reach their initial goal, thus resulting in a failed Kickstarter.

After the initial anger of not being able to announce that we reached the goals because we KNEW that those 8,500€ would be retired to make a fool of us, and the stress of not knowing how to deal with the situation and how it would affect our campaign, we tried to take all this with humor and thus we will have a little "homage" to these beings who only crave to mess around and hurt creative efforts.

We introduce our new monster to you: Trolks

We are still working on putting it in the game (we have to make its sprites and finish programming it), but we already have designed its appearance and what it will do.

This monster will carry a drum which makes all other monsters (friends or foes) go to him. It can do no real damage, only noise to redirect the attention.

As with Europa's Halberd, we plan to gift the Trolks card to every backer with a physical reward, and will remain a Kickstarter exclusive, but we will release the code to everyone after the game's launch.

We hope this monster announcement raises a smile among our awesome backers. Again, thanks for your support. We keep working on new monsters and features for the game and we will try to show them on next updates.

To end this update, allow us to remind you that we have a Monster Design Contest on, and you can submit designs until the end of the campaign! More details in one of our previous updates.

Kind regards!
